Court Evidence Transcripts – How The Typing Works Can Help

If you need an accurate court evidence transcript but don’t have access to an official court transcription service, The Typing Works can help. While we’re not court-registered and therefore cannot access or transcribe official court hearing audio, we can — and regularly do — provide transcripts of other recordings that are later used in legal proceedings across the UK.

What We Can Transcribe for Legal Use

Our legal transcription services are often used by solicitors, barristers, investigators and private clients to produce evidence-ready transcripts. Common examples include:

  • Police station interviews (when the recording is held by the firm)
  • Police body-worn camera footage
  • Covert recordings and surveillance audio
  • 999 calls and other emergency service recordings
  • Witness and client recordings

These transcripts can be included in case bundles and presented as part of evidence in court.

Independent Transcription and Signed Declarations

Although we’re not court-registered, our transcripts can still be accepted by UK courts. We provide a signed declaration confirming that:

“The Typing Works is an independent transcription service and believes the attached transcript to be a true and accurate representation of the audio provided.”

This is a standard and accepted approach for evidential transcripts in many legal contexts, provided the original recording is admissible.

Working with Difficult Audio

Evidential recordings — particularly police body cam footage and covert recordings — are often challenging to hear clearly. Background noise, multiple speakers and poor audio quality can make transcription tricky.

We always transcribe such material independently and in good faith, and we clearly mark anything that is inaudible or uncertain (e.g. [inaudible] or [unclear]). This ensures transparency and allows legal professionals to know exactly what was captured.

Requesting a Quote

Because this type of work requires additional care and formal declarations, our online quote calculator does not apply to evidential transcripts. If you need a transcript for court or legal use, please contact us directly for a tailored quote. We’ll review your requirements and provide a clear, no-obligation estimate.

At The Typing Works, we provide a professional, confidential and independent legal transcription service for clients across the UK. If you need a court evidence transcript, police interview transcription or a transcript of a covert recording, we can help you produce a clear, accurate and properly declared transcript you can rely on.
