Prices on this page are for transcription in English. You can also view our price lists in euros, US dollars and Australian dollars.
VAT and other costs: All prices exclude UK VAT. Courier or administrative charges may apply where an order includes physical media or records, such as CDs, DVDs, tapes or paper documents. We will explain any additional charge before work proceeds.

How is transcription priced?
Most services are priced per audio minute, based on the number of speakers and your required turnaround time. This means a 60-minute recording is charged at 60 times the relevant per-minute rate. Copy typing is priced per word.
Are your transcription prices inclusive of VAT?
No. All prices shown on this page exclude UK VAT.
Which transcription service should I choose?
Clean verbatim is suitable for most interviews, focus groups, research projects, meetings and podcasts. Choose strict verbatim when every hesitation, repetition and false start must be recorded. Jefferson transcription is intended for detailed discourse or conversation analysis.
Do you charge more for accents?
We do not automatically charge extra for regional accents or for speakers who use English as a second language. Our UK-based transcription team is experienced with a wide range of accents.
Can you transcribe confidential academic or medical research?
Yes. We regularly handle confidential academic, healthcare and business recordings. The Typing Works uses secure UK-based file transfer and is ISO 27001 accredited, Cyber Essentials certified and GDPR compliant.
